To protect life, property, and the environment through professional training, responsible stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to the residents of our community.
We are a 100% volunteer district. Our firefighters are plumbers, farmers, teachers, parents, students — ordinary people who chose an extraordinary responsibility. When the engine rolls out at 2 a.m., someone inside left a warm bed and a sleeping family to answer the call.
The district covers the Village of New Baden — roughly 3,349 residents at the junction of Route 161 and Interstate 64, about 11 miles east of Scott Air Force Base and 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Our coverage area spans portions of both Clinton and St. Clair counties, and we respond to mutual-aid calls well beyond the village limits.
In the 1960s, after the village department re-organized, the remaining district territory was renamed the Clin-Clair Fire Protection District — and we maintain a close mutual-aid partnership with them and with Sugar Creek FPD to this day.
The district is governed by an elected Board of Trustees. Operational leadership rests with the Fire Chief and line officers, supported by an active membership of volunteer firefighters.
We meet regularly at the Emergency Services Building:
Whether you're a new resident, long-time neighbor, or student working on a project — we're happy to answer questions about how the district operates.
